2012 Mazda CX-5
Futurecars July 23, 2011The current trend in larger vehicles seems to be shying away from monstrous gas guzzlers that are impractical for day to day use and almost impossible to park on the street in urban areas. Each year, more companies are unveiling what is being termed a Cross Over vehicle. These new crossovers blend the size and reliability of a larger SUV with the practicality and spaciousness of a family oriented minivan. This makes the crossover an ideal solution for those people in the market for an attractive and comfortable ride that has all of the room they need without sacrificing power and performance. The new 2012 Mazda CX-5 is continuing this tradition and is offering buyers a wonderful new option in the field of crossover vehicles.
Based off of the recently unveiled Minagi concept vehicle, the new Mazda CX-5 is promising to offer car buyers all of the style and performance they want coupled with the size and spaciousness that they need. On the outside we see that the CX-5 is a very sleek and modern car that has been designed to coincide with other luxury vehicles. The lines of the 2012 Mazda CX-5 are smooth, flowing and modern with a large front end that gradually slopes down to a slightly lower back end. This should allow for a greater air flow over the vehicle which naturally contributes to its speed and fuel efficiency. While the Minagi concept car was quite unique, there is still plenty of Miangi to be found in the over all design of the Mazda CX-5.

The interior of the 2012 Mazda CX-5 is just as impressive as its exterior. Featuring sleek leather seats and an overall design that looks more like a high end luxury vehicle than anything else, the interior offers plenty of room. The CX-5 should fit six people quite comfortably in its six separate seats. The back row of seats will also fold down to allow for greater storage space without sacrificing the comfort of the four passengers in their captains style chairs. From what we’ve seen at the recent auto shows, Mazda has paid particular attention to the dashboard and interior elements in its new Mazda CX-5. The dashboard is leather and is accented by a color meant to match the exterior paint. From what we’ve been able to see of this new crossover, the 2012 Mazda CX-5 is promising to offer a truly attractive interior that will be a pleasure to both ride in and drive.
On the technical side of things we find that the Mazda CX-5 is built with movement and fluidity in mind. Coming packaged with Mazda’s new SKYACTIV technologies, we have a crossover that is offering revolutionary fuel economy and power in a compact and affordable vehicle. Part of what makes the new Mazda CX-5 so extremely efficient is its amazing new powertrain. This new powertrain offers a very impressive 14:1 compression ratio on both the gas and diesel models. This compression ratio means that you’re getting more power out of every drop of gas that you put into it. While the exact specs are still being kept a secret, most people are estimating that the new SkyActiv motor is going to bring 30 miles per gallon on city streets and an impressive 40 miles per gallon on the highway. This just further proves that the 2012 Mazda CX-5 is designed with high fuel costs in mind.
Part of what separates the crossover segment of cars from both SUVs and regular vehicles is the power available in such a roomy and practical car. The new engine in the Mazda CX-5 is continuing this tradition and offers quite an impressive set of specs. The 2.2 liter diesel version of the CX-5 engine is going to bring a whopping 173 horsepower with 4500 revolutions per minute. The new 2012 Mazda CX-5 engine is also bringing a spectacular 310 foot-pounds of torque when turning at 2000 revolutions per minute. What this means for car buyers is that they will be able to find a new vehicle that is extremely powerful and able to compete with much larger or even sportier vehicles from other manufacturers.
While the new 2012 Mazda CX-5 hasn’t been released yet and some of the specs are still being closely guarded, one thing is certain. The Mazda CX-5 is set to be a serious competitor in the field of crossover vehicles. With impressive comfort wrapped in a luxurious and stylish design, the CX-5 doesn’t skimp on storage space either. The exterior is sure to turn heads and carries plenty of influence from the Minagi concept. As any fan of the crossover would expect, the new Mazda CX-5 is bringing all of the power you could want in an affordable and practical package that has revolutionary fuel efficiency and a very impressive horsepower.

Your Car Reviews are: extremely well-thought out, clearly or eloquently written, and even quite entertaining. If you ever decide to do a blog review site, then be sure to contact me about it. I’d be glad to have you review my own efforts.
While the 2012 CX-5 sounds truly awesome, in a number of areas; and particularly its high fuel mileage rating of between 30 and 40 MPG; The Photos of it leave much to be desired. Honestly, this is not a very attractive car! There’s just something about it, that bugs me. I can’t say exactly what….
I truly enjoyed the article, though. Keep up the great work!
