Sport utility vehicles, generally known as SUVs, are very popular all over the world. It seems that the US market is the largest when it comes to these types of vehicles. The problem is that most Americans want large SUVs that come with low fuel efficiency and a heavy weight. While this may not be true for absolutely everyone, as the success of smaller SUVs and crossovers have shown, Audi has decided that their new crossover SUV will be for a European market. This comes as a bit of a surprise to some, considering how large the American auto market is, but the new 2013 Audi Q3 may not make it to the US.
Crossovers are a bit of a new breed of cars. They were originally intended to be a bit of a compromise between larger SUVs and smaller sedans and station wagons. They have quite a few benefits which have helped to make them quite popular among certain segments of the auto buying public. To start with, crossovers like the 2013 Q3, are much smaller than their larger cousins. This means that they weigh less, can often go faster and will use less gas. On the other hand, they are a good deal larger than a normal sedan and come with a lot more storage space than you would find in smaller cars.

Whats New in 2013 Audi Q3
Despite Audi’s stance on the subject, crossovers have actually proven to be quite popular in the American market for all of the reasons mentioned above. The age of the oversized monster SUV is over but people still want a vehicle with plenty of room. The new Audi Q3 seems like a perfect heir to the market share ruled by the crossover vehicle. Relatively compact in size, the Q3 should have all of the room that people expect from a car like this wrapped in a stylish exterior and coupled with plenty of technological integration.
The exterior of the 2013 Q3 is attractive even if it doesn’t seem to break any new barriers. The front end is lower than the back and resembles a bit of a mix between a sedan and a truck. The headlights are a bit small when compared with other modern cars, they almost seem to squint, but they are effective enough. The grill is nice and large and should help contribute to the overall air flow. The back end is higher than the front and looks a bit like a minivan or station wagon. The profile is slick and the lines all converge quite nicely with a small spoiler at the top of the back end.
The interior of the Q3 2013 models looks very spacious with nicely sculpted seats that look as though they hold a passenger quite well. The fabric and materials used for the interior are also very nice, everything has a nice polished shine and looks very luxurious. The dash and displays are made of nice materials as well and look as though they are well sculpted with the displays being easily visible. There are a few details littered throughout the interior that really help make this vehicle seem more expensive than it is. The rear row seats three adults comfortably making this a five person vehicle.
While crossovers aren’t generally known for having amazing specs, the Audi Q3 2013 models still have a respectable set of numbers. The car will ship with a variety of different engines to choose from and with a few extra options packages as well. One optional engine will be a 2 liter four cylinder direct injected gas engine which outputs about 168 horsepower. There will also be a more aggressive engine which is turbocharged and should produce about 208 horsepower and go from 0-60 mph in about 7 seconds with a top speed of about 140 mph. When you consider the target market for a vehicle like this it becomes clear that these specs actually are quite nice and show that this car has quite a bit of power. Audi has also mentioned that this may come in a diesel model for those that prefer it.
Crossovers have been quite popular over recent years because of their relatively small size when compared with other SUVs. The new 2013 Audi Q3 is set to be another popular addition to this class of cars, even if it may not be available to the American market. Its design is stylish, if not groundbreaking, and the interior is comfortable and very attractive. While there may not be many 2013 Q3s on the race track it still sports a nice set of specs, particularly in the turbocharged model, and should have no problem pulling its own weight. Audi has been known to make fine cars and it seems like the new Q3 is another step in the right direction for this company.
